ROTARY INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

An annual Convention is held to which all clubs of Rotary International may send delegates. The greatest number of Conventions have been held in the United States.

That held in Edinburgh in 1921 was the first exception and one held at Ostend, Belgium in 1927 was the first on continental Europe.

Osborne Crowell, who was a member of this club for more than 60 years attended several Conventions and reported on them:

”One of the privileges of Rotary is sharing the fellowship of Rotarians in other parts of the world. I have had the opportunity of attending eleven International Conventions, including San Francisco in 1947, New York in 1949, Atlantic City in 1951, Chicago in 1955, Los Angeles in 1962, Sydney, Australia in 1971 and Lausanne, Switzerland in 1973.

The highlight for me was the privilege of presenting the plaque from our Halifax club to the Rotary Club of Sydney, Australia. I also had the privilege of introducing the "Fifty Years of Rotary Down Under" feature of the 1971 Convention”.
