| OFFICE
A club home was lacking until April 26, 1946, when the office in Salon "D" was rented from the Nova Scotian, furnished and duly opened as our Rotary Club centre.
In 1961, after the enlargement of the hotel, this was moved to a new location on the mezzanine floor.
Although the appointment of a permanent secretary had been considered as far back as 1939, no action was taken until 1948 when Mrs. MacKenzie Watt was appointed to this office.
In 1951 Mrs. Watt retired and was succeeded by Mrs. Joan Hart, who continued as our Executive Secretary until she retired in 1977.
At that time, the decision was made not to hire a replacement, and the officers of the club took on the responsibilities previously looked after by our Executive Secretary.
When we moved to the Holiday Inn following the closure of the former Nova Scotian Hotel, a small office was made available to us there. However, now that we have moved to the Halifax Police Association Club, we have to operate without an office. |
