OBJECTS OF ROTARY

An organization that grew from a four man unit in 1905 to one that seventy years later, in 1975, comprised 16,632 clubs with a membership of 777,250 in 151 countries was regarded as a phenomenon of the twentieth century. Such was the growth of Rotary - so termed from the fact that the original members rotated places of meeting.

However, twenty-eight years later, by 2003 the number of clubs had almost doubled to 31,314 with a membership of 1,220,543 in 166 countries – proof if any be needed that Rotary is alive and well and poised to continue its good works into the twenty-first century and beyond.

The strength of the Rotary movement has been said to lie chiefly in the fellowship generated among its members, its outreach for service in their own and other communities, and its advance in world wide fellowship among all nations.
