THE CONSTITUTION

Historically, Rotary Clubs used to stake out their territorial limits. To be a member, a person had to live or do business within the area assigned to the Club.

However, in recent years this requirement has been dropped.

Clubs have considerable latitude in adopting By-Laws so long as they do not conflict with those of Rotary International (R.I.).

A member is classified according to his or her business or profession.

For many years, there were five kinds of membership: Active, Additional Active, Senior Active, Past Service and Honorary. This somewhat complex structure was dropped several years ago, and now the only classes of membership available are Active and Honorary.

All but the latter are subject to the payment of dues as prescribed by the club.

In 1924, the Standard Constitution and By-Laws of R. I. were adopted by our Club. In 1925 the start of the Club year was changed from January 1st to begin on July 1st.
